While a license is preferred, we accept applications from candidates who are in the process of getting licensed. We can guide you through the licensing process and connect you with study resources to help you pass on the first try.

What commission structure does Buffer offer?

We offer competitive commission splits that increase as your production grows. There are no caps on earnings, and you earn residual income on renewals. Specific compensation details are discussed during the onboarding conversation.

Do I keep my book of business?

Absolutely. You own your book of business from day one. If you ever decide to leave, your clients go with you. We believe that true ownership is the foundation of a healthy agent-agency relationship.

What carriers can I access?

Buffer agents have access to 50+ A-rated carriers across health, life, commercial, and benefits. One appointment gives you access to our full carrier portfolio — no need to get individually appointed with every carrier.

Is there a cost to join?

There is no fee to join Buffer Insurance. We invest in your success because when you grow, we grow. All technology, training, and mentorship are included at no cost.

What support and training do you provide?

Every agent gets a dedicated mentor, access to weekly training calls, compliance support, and a full technology stack including CRM, quoting, and enrollment tools. We also host quarterly in-person events and provide marketing resources to help you grow your practice.

Can I work remotely?

Yes. Our agents work from anywhere in the United States. We provide all the tools you need to run your practice virtually, including video conferencing for client meetings, digital enrollment platforms, and cloud-based CRM.

How long does the onboarding process take?

Most agents are fully onboarded and ready to write business within two to three weeks, depending on carrier appointment timelines. We handle the paperwork and setup so you can hit the ground running.
